Munich Re, increasing result of the first quarter 2018

After an exceptionally disaster-affected year 2017, Munich Re begins the year 2018 under better auspices.

At the end of March 2018, the German reinsurer posted a net profit of 826 million EUR (1.02 billion USD), up by 49% from 554 million EUR (594.83 million USD) for the same period of 2017.

Turnover recorded a more moderate growth of 1.6% to 12.1 billion EUR (14.91 million USD).

The group targets a net result of 2.1 to 2.5 billion EUR (2.6 to 3.1 billion USD) and a turnover between 46 and 49 billion EUR (56.7 and 60.4 billion USD) at the end of 2018.
