Jun 2018 Jubilee Insurance and Bluewave Insurance Agency are marketing a new microinsurance product for low-income people. Called "Imarisha Jamii", the guarantee covers hospitalization, disability and death.
For a weekly premium of 20 KES (0.2 USD) or a monthly premium of 150 KES (1.5 USD), the cover ensures the payment of a capital of up to 100 000 KES (1001 USD) in case of disability or death. This amount is capped at 10 000 KES (100 USD) for hospitalization and medical expenses.
The product is accessible via mobile phone. It covers people aged between 18 and 75.
