Jul 2018 A decree published in the Official Journal of 24 July, 2018, has introduced the setting up of a file for insured vehicles (FVA). This tool makes it possible to fight against driving without insurance.
The mega file will be managed by the Association for the management of information on risk in insurance (Agira). Starting from January 1st, 2019 and using an automatic reading system of the number plates, the police force will be able to detect uninsured vehicles [4] on the roads.
To date, the number of people driving without insurance in France is estimated at 750 000.
