Jul 2018 Mauritian insurer MUA, formerly known as Mauritius Union Assurance [4], is considering new acquisitions in Africa. Its development strategy, mainly in Eastern Africa, combines internal growth and acquisition. With this in mind, MUA recently raised its stake to 80% in the Rwandan group Phoenix Insurance. The Mauritian insurer is also planning to increase its market share in Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda through new acquisitions.
As a reminder, MUA is one of the leading companies in the Mauritian market along with Swan General and Mauritian Eagle Insurance.
