California: November 2018 wildfires kill more than 40 people

More than 250 000 people have been evacuated from their homes around Sacramento, West of the United States. The toll could be heavier, with the blaze still out of control.

There are two main fires:

• "Woolsey Fire" in Southern California on the outskirts of Los Angeles and Malibu.
• "Camp Fire" in Butte County, to the North. This fire is considered as "the most destructive wildfire in State history". On the damage level, more than 6 700 buildings were destroyed and nearly 40 000 hectares were burnt.

This toll exceeds that of the "Griffith Park Fire" that hit Los Angeles County in 1933 and which claimed the lives of 29 people.
