Despite slowing premium growth in recent years and the decline in the number of companies, employment in the USA insurance sector has regularly increased since 2011.

New YorkBy the end of 2017, approximately 2 800 000 wage earners were reported in the American insurance business. Compared to 2020, when there were about 2 840 000 employees, the number of workers was down slightly in 2021.

Over a longer period of time, from 1960 to 2021, employment in the insurance sector has witnessed significant growth, rising from 1.05 million in 1960 up to 2.80 million in 2021. Statistically, the American market creates 290 000 new insurance jobs every ten years.

The highest staff growth rate is reported in both the brokerage and health insurance sectors.
