Global reinsurance market: growth of turnover in 2018

Croissance chiffre d'affaires The global reinsurance market turnover amounted to 257 billion USD in 2018, a 5% rise in one year. This improvement is accounted for by the increased demand for reinsurance and not by a rate increase.

Nearly half of the premiums, that is 24.59 billion USD, is underwritten by the top five reinsurers:

Munich Re 36.95 billion USD (Germany)
Swiss Re 30.64 billion USD (Switzerland)
Hannover Re 22.65 billion USD (Germany)
Scor 18.02 billion USD (France)
Rothesay Holdco 16.33 billion USD (United Kingdom)
