According to the Financial Stability Report published by Qatar Central Bank (QCB), the 2018 turnover of the Qatari insurance market grew by 7.5% at 15.516 billion QAR (4.260 billion USD) compared to 14.440 billion QAR (3.938 billion USD) in 2017.
The net profit, which declined significantly in the previous two years, rose by 22%, despite the increasing natural disasters in 2018. It reached 1.244 billion QAR (342 million USD) against 1.020 billion (278 million USD) in 2017. The combined market ratio improved by 2.8 points at 102.4%.
By the end of 2018, Qatar has 12 insurance companies, four of which are branches of foreign companies.
