In France, compensations paid to victims of road accidents caused by uninsured motorists amounted to 141 million EUR (156.30 million USD) in 2018. Non-insured related accidents rose by 32% over the 2013-2018 period.
As a result of this increasing loss experience, France’s fund for victims of uninsured drivers FGAO , posted a net loss of 84 million EUR (93.12 million USD) and a negative shareholder's equity at -202. EUR (223.92 million USD) in 2018. The new radar database will henceforth identify uninsured vehicles and combat the phenomenon of non-insurance.
