Standard and Poor's has upgraded the Spanish insurer Mapfre's rating from BBB+ to A- with a stable outlook. It has also raised the rating of the reinsurance subsidiary of the Mapfre Re group from A to A+.
The rating agency believes that the improvig profitability and the group diversity have greatly contributed to the good performance achieved by the two subsidiaries, particularly in Brazil and the United States.
