The 2020 Pan-African Insurance Journalism Awards, organized by Continental Re, were presented at a virtual ceremony.
The 5th edition of the event, which was originally scheduled to take place in Morocco in March 2020, was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic outbreak.
Five awards were attributed in the following categories:
- Prize for the best press article written in English: Isaac Khisa from the newspaper "The Independent" Uganda.
- Prize for the best online press article written in English: David Njagi, a Kenyan freelance journalist.
- Award for the best podcast program in English: Radio Voice of Nigeria for the program "Destiny Onyemihia".
- Prize for the best article in French language in the category: written/online/broadcast press: Joel Assoko of Groupe Jeune Afrique France.
- Future Talent Award: Dominic Omondi from "The Standard Group" Kenya.
The following awards were granted:
- a sum of 2 000 USD to the winner of the Future Talent category
- an amount of 1 000 USD for the winners in each category and 500 USD for the canditates in the 2nd and 3rd places.
