According to Guillaume Huault Dupuy, a Brussels-based freelance journalist and photographer, the Great Mosque of Mecca (Saudi Arabia) is amongst the ten most expensive buildings in the world. Valued at 100 billion USD, the 456 000 m² structure can host up to 900 000 people.

mecqueSecond on the list is ITER, a civil nuclear fusion research reactor project in the Bouches-du-Rhône (France) with an estimated value of 25 billion USD.

ITER is followed by Singapore's Marina Bay Sands, a 5 billion USD resort. The place is known for its 340-metre-long panoramic terrace with the world's largest infinity pool.
