Costly Covid-19 tests for pupils' parents

In an effort to reduce the risk of transmission in educational institutions, several security measures have been implemented by the UAE authorities.

Some of these require every parent who accompanies his child inside the school grounds to submit a negative coronavirus test result every 72 hours.

With 370 AED per test, the monthly cost of Covid-19 [4] tests reaches 3 000 AED (816 USD) per family.

This decision has been widely contested especially in kindergartens by low-income parents.

Moreover, the fact that hospitals refuse to make the same test less than two weeks apart, represents another challenge for parents.
