Morocco is vaccinating the population against covid-19 in the coming weeks. A press release from the Royal Cabinet dated 9 November 2015, announced that the preparation of the vaccination campaign is underway. The National Scientific Committee, for its part, assures that the vaccine is effective and does not present any health risks.
The vaccination campaign is open to all Moroccans over 18 years of age, but priority is given to vulnerable people or those on the front line in the fight against the coronavirus.
The Kingdom is initially expected to receive 10 million doses. This quantity will allow 5 million people to be vaccinated at the rate of two injections at 21-day intervals. The vaccine used is from China.
Morocco signed a cooperation agreement with the Chinese laboratory Sinopharm in August 2020. Another agreement was concluded with the British laboratory AstraZeneca for the delivery of 17 million doses, with an optional purchase agreement for an additional 3 million doses. The government would also be in negotiations with the American company Pfizer, as well as the Johnson & Johnson and Casina Pio laboratories.
