As of 30 September 2020 the Tunisian insurance market recorded a 4.2% turnover increase. The latter rose from 1 946.9 million TND (662.459 million USD) in the first nine months of 2019 to 2 028.6 million TND (727.435 million USD) one year later.
The activity is dominated by motor insurance, which generated 853.6 million TND (306.092 million USD) in premiums that is 42.07% market share.
During the period under review, the indemnities paid to policyholders fell by 6.9% to be set at 846.5 million TND (303.546 million USD). Such a decrease is mainly due to a lower loss experience in the motor and marine activities.
In contrast, at the end of September 2020 the indemnities paid by insurers in the fire activity were established at 64.5 million TND (23.129 million USD) against 53.33 million TND (18.146 million USD) a year earlier.
