According to the Ugandan Insurance Association, only 45% of the vehicles in circulation in the country are insured. Motor third party liability insurance is compulsory in Uganda where the car fleet has witnessed a regular growth.
The motor class of business accounts for 32% of the overall writings. The market's total turnover amounted to 102 billion UGX (60.8 million USD) in 2006.
