The Chinese Insurance Regulatory Commission (CIRC) has decided to end abuses pertaining to the sale of insurance products by phone. The new regulation requires the nationwide use of a single identifiable telephone number, and prohibits calls to users who have chosen to be on the "Do-Not-Call name list" . Selling by phone was launched in 2003 by small and medium size insurers.
