FIFA underwrites an insurance for the 2022 World Cup

FIFADuring the presentation of its 2020 financial statements, FIFA announced that in 2019 it has underwritten an insurance policy for the Qatar 2022 World Cup.

The coverage amounts to 900 million USD and involves the federation's additional costs in case of cancellation, postponement or relocation of the event.

The risks covered include natural disasters, accidents, wars, acts of terrorism and contagious diseases.

FIFA has allocated a budget of 4.67 billion USD for the organization of the competition, 50% of which would come from broadcasting rights.
