The Suez Canal Authority (SCA) could claim 1 billion USD in compensation for the damages caused by the blockade of Ever Given.
The head of the SCA, Osama Rabie, says this amount would compensate for losses associated with transit fees, damage to the waterway during the dredging and salvage efforts which lasted six days.
For the record, Egypt lost between 12 million and 14 million USD in revenues per day of closure.
