Some European Union countries have decided to reduce the alert level and ease restrictions on the population.
On Monday, 3 May 2021, cafés and restaurants reopened in Greece after six months of closure. In Italy, cafés and restaurants have been open to customers in the open air and in areas classified as having a low risk of contagion since 26 April.
Poland and Ukraine began the gradual lifting of restrictions, while Portugal has reopened its border with Spain.
In France, the travel ban between regions ended on 3 May. In the United Kingdom, non-essential shops, gyms and libraries reopened nearly three weeks ago.
On the other side of the Rhine, Germany is playing it safe during this third global wave of Covid-19. Since 22 April, it has imposed a national curfew from 10 pm to 5 am.
