Apr 2008 The Syrian authorities have given the green light for the establishment of several new Takaful insurance companies among which the companies with Kuwaiti-owned capital: Al-Oqaila and Nour. Other companies like Syrian Islamic Company and Aman Insurance Company have also been granted license.
According to Syrian regulation, companies have a six-month period starting from license delivery to start their insurance operations.
The combined capital of four new companies amounts to 120 million USD. Eleven companies are already operating in Syria.
