On 27 May 2021, after three months of exclusive negotiations, Aéma, the owner of Macif, signed a final agreement with Aviva for the takeover of its French subsidiary. The transaction amounts to 3.2 billion EUR (3.9 billion USD).
However, the operation is yet to be approved by the various supervisory authorities.
Following the takeover, Philippe Sorret is to succeed Patrick Dixneuf as general manager of Aviva France. The appointment shall take effect on 1 November 2021, date in which the acquisition shall be finalized.
For the record, Sorret acted as general manager of the French insurer between 2005 and 2010.
