Generali has launched a takeover bid to acquire an additional stake in the capital of the Italian insurance company Cattolica. The offer is estimated at 1.2 billion EUR (1.4 billion USD).
For the record, Cattolica is already owned by Generali by up to 24.4%.
The American group Berkshire Hathaway is also a shareholder of the Italian insurer with a 9.05% stake.
