After seven weeks of lockdown, New Delhi, the capital of India, is slowly coming back to life. Several restrictions that were imposed to limit the spread of Covid-19 have been lifted.
Since 7 June 2021, the metro has resumed service at 50% of its capacity. Major shopping malls have also reopened their doors to the public.
However, restaurants, bars, gyms and cinemas will remain closed until further notice.
The easing of sanitary measures is being done cautiously in New Delhi. Even if the PCR test positivity rate is 0.4%, the government still fears a possible return of the pandemic.
