On 7 March 2022, Samsung Electronics confirmed getting hit by a cyberattack [4]. The data leak did not involve personal customer data. No information about a ransom demand has been disclosed.
The hack was carried out by the South American cybercriminal group "Lapsus$". Lapsus$ also targeted other organizations, including the Brazilian Ministry of Health, Portuguese media group Impresa, South American communications companies Claro and Embratel and graphics card manufacturer Nvidia.
