Saham Assurance Maroc becomes Sanlam

Saham Assurance Maroc has changed its name to that of its majority shareholder Sanlam [4]. Such rebranding was approved by the extraordinary general meeting of shareholders, held on 28 December 2021. The details of the operation will be unveiled in the coming days.

Saham Assurance Maroc is 61.7% owned by Sanlam. In January 2022, the South African group wanted to increase its stake to 84.5% in the capital of its Moroccan subsidiary. However, the acquisition did not take place due to unmet conditions by the insurer.

As a reminder, Sanlam Group finalized, in October 2018, the purchase of the entire capital of Saham Finances for 1.05 billion USD.
