Korean Re commits to protect the environment

Korean ReKorean Re has decided to refrain from reinsuring and investing in new coal mine and coal-fired power plant construction projects starting from 1 January 2023.

The South Korean reinsurer is determined to make its best efforts to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050.

On the global front, several reinsurance companies including SCOR, Munich Re and Swiss Re are gradually withdrawing from the coal industry.
