Heavy storms in California

Since 4 January 2023, California has been facing a series of severe storms accompanied by torrential rains. The successive storms have caused severe flooding, power outages, flight cancellations, falling trees, landslides and even loss of life.

The provisional death toll is no less than 18. Thousands of people had to be evacuated from their homes and a five year old child is still missing. Authorities have suspended their search due to bad weather.

The U.S. weather service expects another storm in the state of California with 180 millimeters of rain.

Meteorologists reported that California is currently experiencing the worst episodes of atmospheric rivers since 2005.
