China's National Health Care Security Administration is now including epidural analgesia and assisted reproductive technology in health insurance coverage.
The decision follows the first decline in China's population since 1961 in 2022 and the rise in the country's infertility rate. As of 2020, 50.5 million couples have reported infertility issues.
This initiative is an attempt by the government to protect reproductive rights and encourage fertility.
