Industry professionals are expecting the compulsory health insurance scheme for expatriates and foreign visitors in Bahrain [4] to generate 50 million BHD (133 million USD) in premiums.
Once the new scheme is implemented, employers will be required to underwrite a health policy for expat workers and their families with insurance companies licensed in the Kingdom.
This initiative is intended to reduce dependence on public funding for health care and encourage competition in service provision.
