US group Cigna has signed a definitive agreement with Health Care Service Corporation (HCSC) for the sale of its Medicare business. Supported by the Government, this entity manages health insurance policies for people aged 65 and over.
The transaction includes Medicare Advantage, Medicare Supplemental Benefits, Medicare Part D and CareAllies.
HCSC will pay 3.3 billion USD in cash for the acquisition of Medicare.
Pending regulatory approval, the deal is expected to be finalized in early 2025.
