Apr 2010 General Insurance Corporation of India (GIC Re) has launched as this April, the pool of natural catastrophes for Africa and Asia. It is the Federation of Afro-Asian Insurers and Reinsurers (FAIR) which entrusted GIC Re with the task of devising this program. The pool, which will start with 20 to 30 members, will have an initial capacity of 500 million USD. GIC Re will be the pool's manager.
