ICICI Prudential becomes the most important private life insurer in 2009

ICICI Prudential Life has recovered its ranking as the country's leading private life insurer. The premiums collected in 2009 have reached 2.9 billion USD. ICICI Prudential is a joint venture between British Prudential and ICICI Bank, the biggest Indian  private bank. Bajaj Allianz reported a turnover of 2 billion USD in 2009. The national company, Life Insurance Corp., remains by far the number one life insurer with premiums amounting to 30.1 billion USD. Its 2009 market share is of 70.9%.
