Jun 2012 On the 29th GAIF conference held in late May in Marrakech, Qatar Financial Center Authority has unveiled the first insurance barometer in the Gulf. This report, based on profound talks conducted with leaders of 20 regional companies, shows that trust among players remains quite high. No less than 60% of the leaders quizzed reckon that the insurance industry in the Gulf countries should outpace GDP in the next two years. Moreover, the low retention levels, political uncertainties and current economic instability are perceived as impediments for the growth of this business. 90% of the company leaders polled consider the tariffs offered by companies too low.
