Jun 2012 Amalgamated Bank of South Africa, ABSA, member of the group Barclays Bank, has obtained license for the establishment of an insurance company in Zambia. It is the fourth sub-Saharan African country where the group conducts an insurance activity. Barclays has confirmed that this expansion is part of a development strategy targeting its operations in the southern part of the continent.
