The French reinsurer Scor has posted 330 million EUR (427 million USD) of net profits in 2011. This result is down by 21% compared to 2010. Gross premiums have risen by 13.6% at 7.6 billion EUR (9.8 billion USD), boosted by life insurance (+19.3%) following the takeover of Transamerica Re. The combined ratio is established at 104.5% in non-life insurance while it was set at 98.7%a year ago. This deterioration is accounted for by the impact of natural catastrophes, posted at 636 million EUR (823 million USD) net.
