Astree, rising loss experience of the motor business

Astree has announced that its loss ratio by September 30, 2011 has deteriorated by 5 points, from 40.17% to 45.2%. This is accounted for by the popular uprising that has hit the country this year and which affected the fire and motor classes of business most especially. Numerous vehicles have been stolen or set to fire, which triggered an increase in both the frequency and magnitude of the claims in such classes.
This loss ration deterioration has nevertheless had a limited impact on the year’s results. Astree’s turnover has increased by 10.95% over the three first quarters thanks to group health insurance, comprehensive, engineering, marine and life insurance.
