British American Insurance is starting business in Austral Africa

British American Insurance, Britam’s insurance subsidiary (British American Investment), has been established since mid-June in Botswana, the first steps of the Mauritian group in Austral Africa. Britam has so far focused on Eastern Africa.

The insurer announced that its presence in this country is predictive of a development in the region. It reiterated its desire to expand into other countries; Zambia in the next six months and Namibia and Mozambique in 2015. The group plans to make nearly 60% of its turnover from its insurance activities in Africa by 2020.
