Floods in Tangier

Although still unofficial, the latest toll pertaining to the bad weather of October 23, 2008 has yielded the figure of 1. 07 billion MAD (125 million USD) in losses reported in Tangier's industrial area where 130 companies were severely hit by serious floods.

Following these floods, Morocco has decided to set up a special fund designed to combat the effects of natural catastrophes as of 2009.

Designed to cover rescue and assistance operations for the benefit of the injured and to build capacity in terms of intervention and prevention, the fund shall be partially financed by a Saudi donation worth 100 million USD and by public contributions amounting to 1. 1 billion MAD (126 million USD)
