Insurers’ investments account for an important share of GDP

Moroccan insurers are actively involved in the country’s economic development. Investments have amounted to over 100 billion MAD (11.98 billion USD) at the end of 2010. This represents 13% of GDP and 104% of the technical reserves.

Assets worth 89.7 billion MAD (10.7 billion USD) have been invested in securities. Investments in real estate have attained 3.6 billion MAD (431 million USD), that is, less than 4% of the total amounts invested.
