New decree governing the activities of insurance intermediaries

The Algerian authorities have issued a decree amending and supplementing the decree of 30 October 1995 relating to the activity of insurance intermediaries.
Dated June 11, 2017, the main purpose of the new legislation is to relax the conditions for the granting of licenses to general agents and brokers. The new provisions published in the Official Journal also involves the system of remuneration and control of agents as well as their professional capacity.

This regulatory relief should increase the number of intermediaries. The initiative is all the more beneficial that Algeria has a deficit in the number of general agents and insurance brokers.
