France: The number of uninsured drivers increased by 40% in 6 years

In France, the number of motorists driving without a car insurance has risen by 40% over the past six years.

According to the compulsory insurance guarantee fund (FGAO), the number of drivers who do not insure their vehicles is currently between 370 000 and 750 000.

In 2015, the FGAO handled 28 435 uninsured driving files of which only 22 652 had caused material damage and 5783 involved bodily injuries.

The year 2015 also recorded 194 deaths resulting from this type of offense. uninsured drivers are often young people of whom 86% are under 35.
