10th African Insurance Awards winners

Africa Re held the African Insurance Awards ceremony in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, on 26 May 2025.

For this 10^thedition, four award categories were presented:

• Insurance Company of the Year: Mayfair Insurance (Kenya)
• CEO of the Year: Ashok Shah, CEO of APA Apollo Group (Kenya)
• Innovation of the Year: Discovery Insure (South Africa)
• Insurtech of the Year: Safaricom Insurance Agency Limited (Kenya)

Each winner received a cash prize of 25 000 USD.

The ceremony was also an opportunity to present the top ten candidates for the 6^th session of the Young Insurance Professionals Program (YIPP), initiated by Africa Re since 2018.

The candidates were selected from several African countries, namely Kenya, Egypt, Côte d'Ivoire, Mozambique, Burkina Faso, Zimbabwe, Rwanda and Tunisia.

Africa Re, a leading player in the African reinsurance market, won the “Pan-African Champion” award. This distinction was awarded at the Africa CEO Forum, held on 12 and 13 May 2025 in Abidjan, Côte d'Ivoire.

The reinsurer was recognized for its 49-year commitment to promoting the insurance and reinsurance industry, serving all 54 African countries through its 9 offices.
