On the night between 29 and 30 January 2025, a passenger plane operated by PSA Airlines, a subsidiary of American Airlines Group, collided at medium altitude with an army helicopter as it was about to land at Ronald Reagan National Airport.
Flight 5342, bound for Washington from Wichita, Kansas, was carrying 60 passengers and four crew members. Russian and American figure skaters were among the passengers.
The military helicopter, known as “Black Hawk”, was on a training flight over the US capital.
Three soldiers were on board.
The crash resulted in both aircraft falling into the Potomac River in Washington. None of the 67 passengers aboard the two aircraft survived the accident.
