According to Lahcen Boubka, Director of Studies at the National Road Safety Delegation (DNSR), the number of traffic accidents in Algeria rose by 2.68% in 2025.
Over the past year, 26 976 road accidents were recorded nationwide. These incidents resulted in 3 838 fatalities, marking a 2.62% increase compared with the end of 2024. The number of injuries also climbed by 4.9%, reaching 37 020.
L. Boubka attributed more than 96% of road accidents to human factors, notably speeding and lack of attention while driving.
As of 31 December 2025, motorcycles accounted for 24% of accidents in major cities.
