According to AM Best, nine international insurers present a systemic risk. They are Allianz, AIG, Assicurazioni Generali, Aviva, Axa, Metlife, Ping An, Prudential Financial and Prudential plc. Meanwhile, AM Best found that some risks could stand as a threat to the insurance business.
Among these risks a major natural catastrophe, an error in the management systems of risks or capital models, soaring interest rates especially after a long cycle of low interest rates, a period of hyper inflation, or a financial crisis.
