On 9 August 2024, an ATR 72-500 belonging to Brazilian airline VoePass crashed at around 1:20 pm local time in São Paulo, south-east Brazil.
Carrying 58 passengers and 4 crew members, the aircraft was on a domestic flight from the town of Cascavel in the southern State of Paraná to Guarulhos International Airport in São Paulo. The plane crashed into the garden of a house in a residential area. All 62 people on board lost their lives.
Local authorities have launched an investigation to determine the cause of the accident. A preliminary report is expected to be released within the next 30 days.
