COVAX to start delivering Covid-19 vaccine doses

covaxCOVAX, one of three pillars of the Access to Covid-19 Tools (ACT) Accelerator, plans to begin the first shipments of Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine in Q1 2021. The first doses of the AstraZeneca/Oxford candidate vaccine shall be delivered in H1 2021.

For the record, in its press release of 22 January 2021, COVAX announced the signing of an advance purchase agreement for 40 million doses of Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine.

In addition, COVAX has already ordered 150 million doses developed by AstraZeneca/Oxford University and produced by the Serum Institute of India (SII).

COVAX aims to deliver 2 billion doses by 2021, including nearly 1.3 billion doses to lower-income countries and territories.
