Deregulation of motor insurance pricing

Kenya’s Supreme Court has decided to deregulate motor insurance pricing, a move that comes following the petition submitted by the Ombudsman, mediator of the non life insurance sector.

Unlike the system in force since March 2011, authorizing Insurance Regulatory Authority (IRA) to set motor premium, this measure will allow insurers to propose more competitive and better appropriate tariffs to the profiles of policy holders.
