European insurers will conduct a second series of stress tests

The new supervisory body of the European insurance sector (EIOPA), in office since early January 2011, has announced that a new series of stress tests for the Union's big insurers will be carried out.
In March 2010, a first series of tests showed that the 28 companies under review were able to withstand all the scenarios then imagined. The new tests will be conducted on a group of companies accounting for at least 50% of the premiums within the European Economic Community.
